The Solar Storm SunSpot is a user definable web portal and Content Managment System. These pages are just one example of what they can be. Once installed, the portal can then be customized by an administrator. You want another tab, don’t call the IT department, simply log in, select the admin tab that becomes visible and add the tab you want. You can even select the users you want to see and edit the content on the tab.
The Solar Storm SunSpot is architected on a portal design where web parts can be added or removed as your needs change. Included in SunSpot are:
v Secure Login – Require each user to login, or make it optional. The choice is yours. You control what each users has access to, and what they can edit.
v Task Lists – Keep track of tasks. View a running history of a task as each update is appended so you can view the history of a task. Assign one or people or roles. Choose who should receive and update when the task is updated. Create filters that allow you to sort the tasks the way you want them. And just so you dont loose track of a task, all of the tasks can appear on a calendar so that you dont loose track of a task.
v Calendar Control– A large viewable calendar that users or administrator can add items to. Each appointment item can be simple text, a hyperlink to somewhere else, or even an icon for instant visual recognition. You can even have the event emailed to a list of attendees.
v Discussion Board – Why try and follow email discussions that get discontinuous as many people respond. Use the Discussion Board Web part. Set who can read it, and even who is allowed to post new messages. Items support rich text and even emoticons.
v Contact List – Keep lists of contacts organized and always on the portal so that with a click of a mouse, you can make a phone call or send an email.
v Announcement List – Post quick announcements that have hyperlinks to more data. These announcements even time out on an expire date you set!
v Manage Users – Create groups and assign users to one or many groups. Allow each group access to one or many tabs and elements on the page of each tab. Completely control what your users see and do. Keep track of who logged in and when!
v Centralized Documents – Have trouble keeping track of corporate documents? Upload them to your portal where they can be accessed by your whole team.
v Links – Keep lists of hyperlinks that will keep you linked in to where ever you need to be.
v Pictures – Add pictures to your portal to brand it as your own.
v Forms – Create forms for your users to enter data in. Have the forms save to a database or simply send an email. You choose!
v HTML – Need to simply display some HTML? Well this web part will do it. Create what ever else you need to say and voila!
v List Control – Need to display a list of data? Well this control will do it for you. Define your list and where the data comes from and now all of your users can access the same data.
v Custom Controls – If the above set doesn’t match what you are looking for, Solar Storm’s developers can create what you need. The Zone 5 AA Ringette Club required and control that would display ice times, Health Canada required an automated process for Video Conference Registration. Anything can be done. Impossible simply means everyone quit trying.
v Blog – Blog away! Blogs can be private or public, or protected to a small group. Link your blog to a discussion.
v Email – Send emails to groups or individuals using Sun Spots mail merge. With the simple click of a button, notify everyone with information that is dynamically created from your data!
Mobile Enabled! Not only is the SunSpot a great portal for the desktop, it also detects and changes for mobile browsers. Each tab can be configured to show data to a desktop, or a mobile browser, or both. Each with a different appearance.
