Solar Storm has been consulting in North America for over 18 years. From contracts of only 8 weeks to 5 years Solar Storm adds value to your development effort. Some of the contracts Solar Storm has completed are:
First Nations Inuit Health, Utilizing the Sunspot Portal developed by Solar Storm, we implemented a Video conferencing scheduling and notification application. FNIH now registers new conferences, attendees, and a full Content Management System for their users.
Integris Heart Hospital, Oklahoma City. Solar Storm has been contracted to develop the second version of its award winning Disease Guidance System software. This a cutting edge project developed using .NET and Microsoft’s VSTO – V2, and Infopath. We recognized the value of a smart document and creating a new Disease Guidance System based on Microsoft word, Infopath, or web forms, to allow the practitioner a familiar non invasive environment to capture health information. The solution is an N-Tier design utilizing an SQL Server data store combined with a rich client using Word 2003’s smart document capabilities. Upon review by an independent IBM consultant the DGS was demonstrated World Class development practices and was a solid enterprise level application. It includes a web service that communicates to health record systems using HL7.
Synapse Publishing Ltd. Working as a project leader Solar Storm managed and supervised 5 programmers in the writing of a Disease Guidance System (DGS) using MFC and SQL server. The DGS is an application that uses, threads, sockets, and Microsoft’s scripting engine to create a world class application in the demanding medical profession. It incorporates a secure Access or SQL Server database. It integrates IE 4 as an OCX where the DGS runs a Java applet. The Java applet includes our own search and document presentation engine.
Kids Matter.Com - In an 11th hour call to Solar Storm, we were able to develop a custom Web Safe Browser for Children. This was a project that was under immense time pressure, as their development had slipped past the hard delivery date. The browser uses IE 5.5 and communicates with a set of ASP pages and MTS COM objects to restrict the navigation of the browser to approved "safe" sites. This was a fun project that we were proud to put our name to.
Cheveron – Enerpro – Keyera Energy. Converting an Access database application to Visual Basic to improve the scalability, reliability and speed, Solar Storm created an application that ran maintenance free for eight years before being contracted to write version 2 in Microsoft .NET framework. The intention is that this database will in the future be used as an in house oil field product tracking application with a Web client that suppliers may access for account status.
